What do you mean by "access" the serial port? See if it there as in a Windows Control Panel>System Properties>Device Manager>Ports kind of way? And using Forms for what purpose(s)? To display information about the port?

We want to open the serial port (say COM1 or COM2) and read the incomming data from a device ( say a card reader, time recorder etc)
This will allows us to read data comming from the serial port and store in to our database (Oracle)
Scenario.
A truck comming with material is loaded on to a platform which is connted to a display unit indicating the weight of material laden. This weight is displayed on a jumbo display and also the mother biard has a serial port ( jumbo display mother board ).
We want to connect our PC's serial port to the serial port of the jumbo display and then write a code in oracle and read the seial port.
There is also a Visual Basic code which is converted in to OCX.
But when we insert this OCX in the forms OCX component we get a message at run time.
FRM-41344 - OLE object not defined for item in the current record.
