Can we install Oracle 9i database Server on Redhat Linux 8.0 or do we require Redhat Linux Advanced Server for the installation.

9.0.1 is certified on Red Hat 7.1, Red Hat Advanced Server, SuSE 7.1, 7.2, and SuSE Enterprise Server 7. You may still be able to download 7.1 from one of the mirrors listed on RedHat's web site.

9.2 is certified only on Red Hat Advanced Server and SuSE ES7. However, this link:

    http://www.akadia.com/services/ora_l...nstall_9i.html

indicates that 9.2 does run OK on Red Hat 7.2 (again you can download this for free).

Obviously, it would be a very bad idea to run Oracle on an uncertfied OS for any purpose other than a development box for home use!
