    Reference table.

    Hi,

I have to transfer a oracle 8i database to another machine.
    Recreation of all tables/views/users ...

There is a problem this database acts as a reference DB, so other db's are connected and they have views/synonyms on this DB.

How can I see which table/views are used by other DB, without checking every DB?
So that I also can recreate these views/synonyms.

    Kind Regards,

    WeZ

If the hardware platform you are moving to is the same there should be no problem with this. Do you keep the reference DB open 24/7 or do you have a predefined window to close it down for backups/maintainance. If so you should be able to move it and simply update the additonal servers with the new tns alias.

We will take the proccessing down, and there both HP-UNIX systems.

    Example:

You have a table on machine A.
Machine B as a view on that table on machine A.

Is there a way to see only at machine A that there 's a view on machine B?

    Cheerz,
