New to Oracle
Hi there,
I am a networking professional and I would like to get into the world of Oracle. The problem is, I have 0 (zero) knowledge of databases and/or database management. I was wondering if someone could give me tips if pursuing an Oracle certification is something I should do. And if so, could anybody please provide information on how to get training materials for beginners?
Thank you all,
Arie.

As a freshman (even for Networking), I think Sybex for 007,031,032 & Oracle Press for 033, with 3-6 months of part-time memorization should be good enough to pass OCP 9i. There are also various resources such as ILT/STS/TestKing... if you do a good search of this forum. Good Luck!

Oracle free books for u
Well, i am learning sql server 2k and i also want to start
with Oracle 9i.
U can find oracle books for download (pdf) and save many $$$ at:
http://www.yaxoo.com/books/Databases/Oracle/
1. install flashget
2. start flashget
3. in flashget, press F7
4. past the above url in the address bar
5. also u will find unix, linux, m$$, transcender etc etc etc
6. of course, u can also find it without flashget, but walk the
tree, download the stuff with just a point and click, and control
downloaded jobs.
have fun.

If you are ABD, you are not a Ph.D. Ph.D. candidate, but definitely not Ph.D.

ABD stands for "All But Dissertation" but also (as Tim knows) it stands for "Association of British Drivers" :-)
