New to Oracle
Hi there,
I was wondering if someone could help me with my problem. I am very new to Oracle, in fact, I have no experience with it at all, but I would like to become a DBA OCP certified.
I downloaded Oracle8i Personal Edition and installed it on my home computer (Windows 2000 Pro, FAT32 file system). I also installed the client on the same machine. During the installation process I asked the Installer to create a sample database but I cannot access it with my user name and password. I think I chose the custom installation option and I must have forgotten something. I don't mind redoing the whole thing if I have to.
I was also wondering, can I have the Oracle8i server and client installed on the same machine and working with no conflicts?
Could someone please elaborate on the most important steps of the Oracle8i installation?
You can leave your answer here ot email me at arie01@hotmail.com.
Thanks,
Arie.

Sure both server & client can be on same machine. When you install server, the client is installed automatically.
