    block size how do i

    Hi All

Suppose i have inherited a Database ...and the block size is 4K and the os block size being 16K..is there any wy we can conclusively say throiugh some utility like statspack ..that my DB is slow because of my small block size....or conversely how do i prove that block size is the reason for higer IO..

    regards

So when Oracle requires the db block size to be a multiple of the OS block size, how do you get a db block size smaller than the OS block size?

    Hi steve

In my init.ora if i use the db_block_size=4k when i my os i mean the filesystem block size is 8k..the os would have to do more IO on beahlf of oracle..and that would also trigger off the read ahead algorithm causing performace downgarde...so i was just wundering how would one identify that block size is the cause of contenation...Is there anyway in statspack to find that..

    regards
