    Oracle 9i book

    Hi guys,

Can you recommend me a good Oracle 9i book, with a practical approach? I liked a lot Tom Kythe's "Oracle Expert One on One" and Jonathan Lewis' "Practical Oracle 8i".

I was looking for something similar, mentioning Oracle 9i new features. Is there such a book?

    thanks in advance,

    Adriano.

Certainly not anything from Oracle Press, that's for sure!

Those two books you mentioned would be the First and Second books I'd recommend to any oracle DBA's to purchase. They contain in depth and detailed explanations of Oracle concepts.

For 9i features, a book by Robert Freedman from, sorry Stecal, Oracle Press, has received many good reviews from readers. I've not read it myself though.

Yeah, and Freeman has to write his own review to boost his ratings. If you like fluff, poorly edited, and rush job books, then Freeman's book is the way to go.

    Is that it?

It looked like Oracle 9i DBA Handbook (which I already have), probably with a few examples. Am I wrong?

I'm looking for a practical approach, with real life examples (take Tom Kythe's book as a reference). It seems I'll have to wait months (maybe years) until Oracle 9i is mature enough :(

    Yeah, that's the book.

Oh and those Oracle "enter number here" DBA Handbooks really are crap. I've not bought one yet.

Here's where Freeman writes a 5-star review of his own book:
