    Corrupt Controfile

    Hi all,

We have several servers. I moved one db from one server to another, although with same configuration ie HP to HP. I have done this in the past. After moving all the files, I did a startup and I am getting below error:

    ORA-00202: controlfile: '/data12/oradata/play107/control01.ctl'
ORA-227 signalled during: alter database mount...

would someone know what steps I could take to bring up the db?

Can you copy controlfile02 over the corrupt controlfile01? I've done this before. If you don't have additional copies of the controlfile then you'll have to create new controlfiles.

U can use backup controlfile or if you have latest copy of control file trace, you can use that to create control file by starting the database in mount stage.

    Corrupt Control

    Hi all,

Thanks so much for your imput. What I did was to create a control file ie alter db bkup ctl to trace. I used this script to startup the db. I should have done this from begining but I was carried away with new technology.

    Thanks again.

    Hello Katie:

Can you explain in steps, what you did to recover from this problem.

    Hi ST200,

Sorry I have been away on holiday. what I did was to create a controlfile using the last xxx.trc file. I ran the controlfile to create a db. If you need further info let me know.

Sorry Katie but you cannot "run a controlfile to create a db" :-)
