    ora-1031

    Hi

I am new to Oracle 9.2.0.1.0. I have installed and database has been created. But when I try to connect using

    sqlplus /nolog
    SQL>connect / as sysdba
    ERROR:
    ORA-01031: insufficient privileges

    I found $ORACLE_HOME/dbs/spfileSID.ora containing remote_login_passwordfile='EXCLUSIVE'

How to solve this problem. Please advice. Please consider this is an urgent.

    Thanks In Advance

    More info.

When I try to configure a database using dbca, I am getting
    ORA-01031: insufficient privileges

Is this because of my user(oracle) level setting problem? According to my knowledge it should be oinstall as primary group, dba as secondary group. But in this case group defined as other.

    Please advice.

    Thanks In Advance

primary and secondary are optional, you can perfectly have a single dba or oinstall group

Thank You very much. In my case oracle user is defined with group other not dba/oinstall. Is this causing problem? Do I need to reinstall Oracle with oinstall/dba group? Please advise.

    Thanks in Advance
