    What to do DBA?

    Hello Gurus,
    Well i have query is that what will be the exactly job of a DBA after implementation of S/W. What task he has to perform. any one can tell me about this.

    Hi,

    I assume you mean what additional duties over that of a DBA will you need to perform.

    As Apps is such a piece of sh*t you can expect to spend 90% of your APPS DBA life applying patches :(

    Your also be involved in cloning the environments, managing concurrent managers, upgrades, alerts, workflow plus managing the varios financial tools ADI, etc.

    thanks for information. the job that you have suggested is almost clear to me. But now i want more about cloning. How we can perform this and what are the benefits of it?

    Cloning is effectivly duplicating a complete envirnoment, typically used to create test or development environments which are exact copies of production.

    A cloned environment can give a more acurate test bench for patches or upgrades because you are effectively implementing a change on production data without affecting the production system.

    Database cloning is almost same as Taking backup what i understand by your post or it more than that? what kind of policies are does matter in this.. can you tell me in detail...
