Post How to manage such database requirement

    Dear Sir
I am having typical requirement for my organization.

    1. Synchronizing two databases similar in structure & Schemas connected through VPN (Virtual Private Network )

    2. Neither tables/objects can be divided between two locations as
normaly we do in creating Distrubuted Database.

    3. Parallel server is already discarded due to some commercial problems.

    4. No site is master site - snapshot site as such at both places transactions would be done shud reflect at other location.

Is there any way to come out of this ?

If both sites will be accessed and updated at the same time then you will need to look at multi-master replication.

    Take a look at

What is the motivation for having two databases instead of one?

    Thanks for Reply

The Motivation behind maintaining two server is like this
    1. One server is located at Remote place (Countryside) where it can not be connected to Internet but there 70% of users will be accessing the database. Infrastructure of place do not allow that.

    2. Other server can easily get connected to Internet and will accessed from all over the place but the no of users connecting would be around 30%

Not sure what sort of load you are looking to place on this system but would you not be better off locating a single server in the remote location (where the bulk of the load will be) and using the VPN to connect to that instance from your satelite location.

Unless the VPN is very unreliable and slow (in which case your replication will suffer anyway) or your user load is huge I think the single server may be sufficent. IMHO

I think Multimaster replication is closest choice.

But still I have general question since I have not worked on Parallel Server/RAC if two nodes are at differnt locations (As my case) then does RAC solution is best fit into my current scenario.
