A TOAD Issue
Hi Gurus,
I have heard repeatedly that TOAD locks up a database.
Is this true and if so how?
Thanks!

It may do it just like any other program by running a very sql statement. But no it does not lock up the database. I have used for a little over 4 years and have never seen that happen.
But if you do run a long running statement Toad itself can appear to lock unless you change a setting with the options within it to allow the user to cancel the query that they just ran. Is this what is meant?

TOAD 7.4 has a Quest ScriptRunner that opens a seperate application thread to run long running queries.
