tar backup failed, please help
Hi all,
we are running oracle 9.0.1.4.0 on linux 6.2.(Redhat). We have a tar backup which runs daily on a particular time. today its failed giving "Input/Output error". Here i'm pasting the logfile info, please help in debugging the cause of the error. Is it due to the problem with the tape device? The server is placed in remote place (at JN,US).

Have you checked there is sufficent space on the target disk/tape? or that the tape is not corrupt?

There is are 2 solutions for you
1) Try checking your tape "logically" if not physically
I mean write a dynamic PL/SQL code to check it I hope you ....Know
2)Change the init parameter
remote_tape_check=true and restart the database.
Hope this helps...
