difference bet upgradation and migration
difference between migration and upgradation in
oracle db
-
Upgradaion: you have old version of the system and now you want to upgrade it to the higher version or to the latest version
F.ex: Upgrading Oracle DB from 8.1.6. to 9.0.1
Migration: You are changing to a diffrent vendor..
F.ex: Migrating from DB2 to Oracle

Oracle calls Migration the process of transforming DB to newer version, e.g. 7->8, 8->9.
The Upgrading is the process of transforming DB to newer release of the same version, e.g. 8.1.6->8.1.7 or 8.1.7.0->8.1.7.4.
