    Manually start DB

    Hi,

    Sorry, I have a simple question. Apprecaite if you can help me.

    Now my database is startup automatically, How can I change it to manually startup mode.

    If u are using winNT or 2000 server u

    Go to services in control Panel and change u oracleservice<< sid >> to manual.

    well you didn't say which OS you are running on.

    For windows go to "services" menu in administrative tools folder find oracle and set it to manual, for unix, sorry but you gonna figure it out on your own because it is specific to your machine and brand of unix. You will have to change your start up scripts somewhere......

    if it is a win2k server then u go to
    control panel
    administrative options
    services
    Oracle_sid - set it to manual.

    NT control panel services same thing.

    In unix - u may have to write a shell which says Oracle_sid , and db start parameters.

    And if you are on UNIX, you can edit the /var/opt/oracle/oratab file and set the Y setting to N. You can also disable the startup by removing the S## startup script related to init.d.
