    questions about backup

    Hi all,
    I don't know much about backup using RMAN.
    Our database is around 150GB.
    The persone who does backup says he got to backup 150G every week.
    It takes around 20 hours to do this backup(hot).
    Is there a way to do incremental backup.does it reduce the time?
    If yes how to do it?

    No incremental backup is possible by your method unless you're using some utility or RMAN. You might need some additional software (Media Management ) to backup to tapes, if that is where you're storing the backups.

    We are using RMAN. That is why i am surprised when he says he got to backup 150G every week.

    BTW, that's only about 2MBps transfer speed. That sounds AWFULLY low...
