    Never let them see you sweat, oh and DOCUMENT EVERYTHING YOU DO!! And put it somewhere logical for the guy who has to come in and keep the shop running after you hit it big in Atlantic City and run off to the islands!!! =]
    Seriously documentation task more time at first but will save you tons of time in the future, DRAT once again my stupid college professors we right!

    As your goal is to be a “good DBA”, I presume that you are a “not so good DBA”…. Just kidding

    To me how good you are depends on how adverse situations you come across and resolve.

    I guess give it some time and as you gain experience you won’t need for anybody’s approval of your DBA skills.

    AND MAY BE YOU ARE BETTER THAN YOU THINK...

    Hi deepali,

    To be a good dba u need to recover the database from any failure.so backup backup backup.that should give u enough confidence to try out new things.

    Our SYSADMIN takes a Database backup on tapes every day and still don't know the difference b/w instance and database. Just kidding,
    It's all depened on how much u dedicated to urs task in order to resolve the problem. Don't forget to spend 1 hrs atleast on reading some articles or manuals.
