    apply patches set to 8.1.7.3.0

Last week, I apply the patch from 8.1.7.0 to 8.1.7.3.0. To follow all of the instructions for the docs, I run the upgrade and I stop when Oracle tired to replace the file oci...32 dll. So I hit ignore and it continue the installation.

I didn't encounter any problems after the upgrade. Does anyone encounter the same problem???

I am running on windows 2000

precisely which file was it trying to access? It likely means that a service was not stopped and that does not mean it has to be an Oracle service. If you hit ignore you did not install the patch 100% successfully.

I had the same problem when I installed Oracle Designer on the server that has Oracle Database installed. It seems that OCIW32.DLL is only loaded by the applications using OCI not Oracle Server Process. So it will not make an effect on Oracle.

if that was the case (same file) for mike then the remedy is to
stop the MS DTC service as a quick metalink search reveals
