ALter session privelege to developers

I would like to find out what are the implications of giving a developer "alter session" privilege in the development environment.

ALTER SESSION modifications are specific to that particular session and are gone when the user disconnects. I don't see any implications, if at all there are some implicataions, those are specific to session not database.
