ora-01991 invalid password file when starting standby DB
I've created a standby database but when I tried to start it up with "ALTER DATABASE MOUNT STANDBY DATABASE", it complains
ORA-01991: invalid password file 'c:\oracle\ora81\DATABASE\PWDtest.ORA'
I checked the file PWDtest.ORA on both Primary and Standby, they look the same. Can I simply copy the PWDtest.ORA from Primary to Standby? I have same password for "internal" on both system. Why it is complaining?
Thanks,

Simply create a new password file using ORAPWD with the new ORACLE_SID in your standby machine.

Thanks, Calvin.
But if I create a password file for each machine with the same password, would it normally pose no problem when I do standby DB?
In other words, are there anything else in the password file other than the password itself, which make the two passowrd files on two different machines different? How does Oracle know the password file in invalid? I'd like to find out about that because I have two more databases I need to do standby for. It does not make sense I have to recreate password file for each standby.
Thanks again,

I guess that it is only with regards to PASSWORD and SID.
