    Oracle 9i RAC on Linux

    Hi Friends,

Has anybody tried installing and played around Real Applications
Clusters(RAC) on Linux? Is it available also on Windows?

    Thanks,

oops, sorry, I just read previous threads and they said
it's supported. I just wonder which one will perform
better? given the same processing power....or which
    one is best recommended?

I have it running on Suse 8.

With some sweat and hunting on variuous boards (not just Oracle's) the thing is running smoothly.

Some things to look out for. If you will attempt to install RAC on a version of Linux that is not in the support Matrix you WILL encounter some install errors - these errors are during the make phase as the install is looking for a specific version of gcc to compile the binaries. When the install happens and you get a pop up window with the error go to the file and view the file to make sure which version of gcc it is looking for. If the version does not match the one you have then edit the file to point to your version of gcc and retry the install.

Make sure that you have as much memory as you can and make sure that the boot up process on the machine uses the memory values that you give it. Double check all of the startup scripts before installing.
