Can you run different ODBC connection with Mulitple Oracle clients ?

I have been told by our application provider that the reason the client won't work is because we have Oracle 7 and Oracle 8i on the same PC.
They say 'The ODBC DSN does not work because of two copies of ociw32.dll.'
I have tried to explain that the copies are in two seperate Oracle Homes i.e. Oracle 7 is in c:\orant\ and Oracle 8i is in c:\oracle\ora81, but they insist we should remove Oracle 7. Can you run different ODBC connections with different Oracle Client version?

    I have fixed the problem.
The application uses Microsoft Transaction Server and the register settings OracleXalib, OracleSqllib and OracleOciLib need amending to point to the Oracle 8i client. (AND without removing Oracle 7 client!!)
