    oracle 9i installation on windows 2000

    Hi,
    I am trying to install Oracle9i on Windows 2000 professional.
    I am not getting the universal installer screen. Somebody
    told me that a specific file is to be renamed. I don't know
    what file they are talking about. Need help.

    Are you on a Pentium 4 processor?
    Do a search for P4 in this forum, it has been discussed many times.

    If P4 was the problem you need to rename "symcjit.dll" to something else and rerun the installer.

    However, Metalink claimed the P4 problem is fixed in 9i. See Doc ID: 137200.1 in Metalink.
