I backup a database using RMAN via the controlfile method. Yesterday while the backup was in progress the instance crashed. The crash had nothing to do with the backup. I brought the instance back up and deleted the backup pieces that were created by RMAN. I then kicked off RMAN again. This morning i came back to see that the backup had failed with ORA-19575: expected 633728 blocks file /XXX/XXXX/XX, found 632448. Is this because i had deleted the previous backup piece and RMAN got confused with the 'image' or is it due to a corrupt backup piece or datafile???
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
This error message indicates that the /XXX/XXXXX/XX file is corrupt. You need to verify the file size on the OS.This message says that the file is supposed to be 633728 blocks, but the file on the OS is only 632448 blocks. The file is corrupt and cannot be used. You need to delete it and resync the catalog and again restart your operation.
