    Cool

    Hi,

I have a solaris box with 8.1.7.0.0 installed I have been asked by a developer to install oracle 8.0.5 but he only needs the libraries no database.

Is there a quick way to do this or do I need to run the installer and put the oracle 8.0.5 install into a seperate home.

    Thanks in advance..

Would you ask the developer why does he need the 8.0.5 libraries?

no you dont need different Oracle users to have two different homes, however it may be prudent to do so so they have have different profile and to save you trouble in the long run by accidently doing stuff with different homes
