This question is about Tablespace Point in Time recovery (TSPITR). Is clone db absolulately required? Can't we do TSPITR without the clone db?

Hi Jack,
Busy lad when's your exam?
You don't specifically need a clone database as you can use transportable tablespaces but in this method you would still need to have a database to restore and export on before importing to the primary database.
Personally I can't see the big benefit of TTS for recovery, but then Ive never had to use it in anger.
HTH

Nick
