Thread: instance and listener startup order

    Hi,

    Does it matter whether the instances or listener start up first? It does not appear to be. Just want to confirm it.

    nope, doesnt matter, but if you start instance first wont be able to connect to it till the listener is started of course

    Better practise to start listener first and then database..

    Generally the order of startup listener/database is totaly irrelevant. Also, you can always connect to the database even if listener is not started (from the same machine where instance is running, of course).
