    Hi,

    How can v handle the following situation ?

    Suppose :

    I hv a offline backup of 28th September. And after that I hv archive logs till 6th October.

    What else I need to recover my database.

    What type of recovery I need to do.

    Until Change or Untill Cancel will also do.

    I know that I cannot recover it fully as I don't hv Arch Logs from 7th Ownards.

    Please advise.

    Regards
    Vijay

    The maximum you can recover upto is the time till that you have archive logs.
    Till what time to recover, depends on your requirement. If you want to require upto the latest archive log availbale do "recover until cancel"

    Not necessary.... If you don't have latest controlfile, you can rebuild also..

    No need to rebuild control file, no need to have current controlfile. Simply use the controlfile from cold backup and specify that you are recovering by using old controlfile:

    RECOVER DATABASE UNTIL CANCEL USING BACKUP CONTROLFILE;
