If I drop and recreate an index (to reclaim space) on my production system, will this also happen on my standby database when archive logs are applied?
Thanks in advance

Yes. But it goes without saying that you must not use NOLOGGING when creating an index on the primary....

what he said but in terms of what changes are not propogated consider the following
- Any physical changes that occur on the primary must be accomplished on the
standby as well. Added datafiles are added to the standby controlfile
automatically (via redo logs). The file must be manually copied to the standby
system. If the standby can't find a datafile, recovery will stop. Use ALTER
DATABASE CREATE oldname AS newname or physically copy the datafile to the
standby system.

This is true in 8i, but in 9i you can configure standby so that adding, dropping, resizing, etc.... datafiles on primary will automaticaly be executed on standby also.
