idle_time elapses and application freezes

Dudes:

Customer has set an idle_time parameter of 15 minutes (which works) but the app freezes - is there any way to trap the 'end of session' message and use it to trigger code that closes the app gracefully.

As is stands, Task Manager is required to release the freeze.

Any suggestions are welcome.
