    Hi gurus,

    How can i export a table from oracle 8.1.7 and import into 7.1.5.2.3.
    when i tried to import it is giving an error

    IMP-00010: not a valid export file, header failed verification
    IMP-00000: Import terminated unsuccessfully

    what could be the reason. pls guide me in this regard asap.

    Generally, you couldn't import tables from the high version database to low version database. The exported file's format might be different, and it will give you that error. One way to move data around on the network is to create dblink between these two databases, and just directly move data between them.

    You can export. You just need to export the data of 8.1.7 through export utility of 7.1.5.2.3 server, create a service name of 8.1.7 on 7.1.5.2.3.

    for example exp username/password@sercice_name
