I would suggest SYSTEM can be altered to LMT TEMP tablespace and leave SYS as it is.

may be I am wrong. I think it is very rare for sys to be perform LARGE sorts, unless you use other than start/stop/recovery operations. Please correct me if i am wrong.

even it does not perform excessive sort you must NEVER use tablespace system for anything else!

What kind of sorts should be done in mount stage???? All Oracle has to do in mount stage is to find the control file and read it. What should it sort? And even if it had to, it certainly could not perform any disk sort (at least not in database terms), as the database is still not open, so no tablespace is available to store intermediate sort runs.

Juriy, i gess that he was thinking about query to V$, X$ tables with some kind of sort operations.
These tables/views avaiable in mount stage.
