    Hi,

I am wondering what oracle version is the best one for windows 2000 Pro? And what is the best way to get it, download or buy a trail version? It seems it takes forever to download it. Thanks.

Unless you have 512M of RAM, get 8.1.7.

Thanks. I have 256M RAM. Should I go for Oracle8.1.7 ? BTW, I am using dial-up internet, very slow, it takes forever to download it from ont site. Is there any other way to get it? If I buy a trial version, I can only use it for one month, right? Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
So far I use the Oracle 8i 8.1.7 is pretty stable on wins 2K Professional for single instance. If u want to create more than 1 instance, probably u need to upgrade ur 256RAM in order to run smoothly.

Until Recently, I just upgrade my personal machine to Oracle 9i Rel 2 which need more resources in terms of RAM and Harddisk space, so I am not encourage u to use Oracle 9i if u want to run it on 256MB RAM machine. Also please check ur harddisk space available before install.
