    Question

    Hi all,

    We are on 81730/W2K.

I have a question related to the TEMP Tablespace.

What should be the configuration of TEMP tablespace?

    1. Should it be defined as TEMPORARY or PERMANENT?
    2. Should it be defined as Locally Managed or Dictionary managed?

What is the best configuration for TEMP tablespace to achieve the best performance.

    Thanks in Adv.

    Sam,
A locally managed tablespace might appear to grow a lot but is better for performance as no recursive calls need to made for extent allocation/deallocation(as would be the case should you choose it to be managed by the dictionary). With locally(as the name suggests) you do it locally/internally as compared to externally/by the dictinary.

    For syntax etc
    dictionary & locally managed
