Thread: Enterprise Storage Server

    Hi everyone,

    We are getting a new ESS - IBM Enterprise Storage Server. Has anyone used this technology before. They are telling it changes how we viewed datafile placement before, and now we don't have to worry?

    Would like to hear of any experience with this.

    Regardless of the technology used, the DBA must always worry about file placement and underlying RAID Technology. Personally, I think they are sales people telling your management what they want to hear. I'm not saying the IBM is a bad box, just remember that file placement DOES matter.
