I never have any experience Oracle on HP, just some experience with Oracle on Solaris. Is there any big difference between these two? And how big? In what aspect?

    Thanks in advance!

    database commands will be same

most of the basic operating system commands will remain same . there might be slight different in some commands . which u will find in diferrent releases of solaris or HP OS.

may be Orielly book " Unix for DBA's " might help u in the begining .

it depends, if you want to do some advanced tuning you better read some OS books

if what you do is basic administration then there is no difference at all

    good suggestions Siva!

I'd add "Unix in a Nutshell". If something in this book does not work, then simply do a 'man' on the command and see which flags are different.
