Our database is running on Win NT4.We would like to change our OS to Unix.

    Install Oracle on UNIX.
    Create database on Unix.
    Export DB from NT.
Copy the export file to Unix.
    Import DB on Unix.
Set clients to connect to Unix.
    That's all.

you need to do certain things while installing the databse like .
assumed that sysadministrators have created required filesystem .

    kernel settings .
creating Oracle Unix Group and User .
change the ownership of these filesystems or part of filesystem to oracle user .
set the environment files in .profile or .login
mount the CD in CD Drive . better u copy all the CD's dump in the hasd disk and then install ( if intalling remotely ) .
then rest of the things as usual . ...

in the process of installation u will be asked to run some other file . which u can do it in another session .

better take a detailed procedure from metalink .
