What option u choose to shutdown the database?
Check what is the error message in the Alert.log file

Hi
Check ur Alert log file for any error messages
or
Check for active connections from V$session becuase if you are performing Normal shutdown oracle waits for all users to logoff.
What is ur OS and Oracle version?

I had given shutdown immediate
and the content of alert.log file is
SHUTDOWN: waiting for detached processes to terminate.
It was hanged so I restart the service and then again open the serive manager shutdown the database abort

Hi,
What OS and Oracle version are you using?
Is this happening recently or has been happening since you installed the Oracle software and database?
Did you make any changes recently to the oracle software like patches or any change in initialization parameters?
There are many issues related especially with Windows OS
