I've been pseudo assigned the role of DBA. I'm taking Oracle classes and trying to get a handle on what's going on with my database (Oracle 8.1.6, Windows 2000). Here's the first of many questions to come. I'm looking at the size of my tablespaces and I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking at. I'm questioning my temporary tablespace. The initial extent is 1048576 and the next extent is 1048576. My max extet is 1. My percent increase is 0. My min extent is 1048576. The allocation is normal. Is it normal for the initial extent and next to be equal? What about the the min extent at the same size? Is this to prevent data fragmentation? Why wouldn't the percent increase be set higher? I know this questions may be basic to some but I'm not really sure what I'm viewing. Any help would be appreciated.
