Thread: New DB for Recovery Catalog Or Not?

Currently, I use hot backup to backup 5 production databases.
I am considering changing my backup method to RMAN instead of the hot backup.

Assuming that disk space and resources on the server is not a problem, should I create a new database and use this new database as the recovery catalog? Does this method make sense or not?

If not any other suggestions are welcomed.

    Thanks

Go Ahead. I strongly recommend a seperate database for RECOVERY CATALOG.... You keep your backups safe...

I agree with Sam, you should keep the catalog seperate.
