Import Exp dump of 8.1.7 in 8.1.6

Hi friends,
I have one doubt.
have an export dump from oracle 8.1.7 database. I want to import the same into Oracle 8.1.6 database. Will it work without any problem or it will create some problem?? I'm working on Windows-2000.

Hi,

You will have a problem I'm afraid...the 8.1.6 import Utility read cannot an 8.1.7 export.

However there is a work around...

Is 8.1.6 and 8.1.7 installed on the same box?

If it is then use the 8.1.7 import utility to import into the 8.1.6 database
eg imp username/password@816dbname file=......

If 8.1.7 is on a different machine install the 8.1.7 utilities and Net8 onto the 8.1.6 machine (into a different ORACLE_HOME) then use the 8.1.7 import tool as above....
