    hi , gurus ,

Do you have any comment that which optimizer should be recommended to use in Oracle8.0.5 ?

In Oracle7.3 , My Application is running very well under
cost based optimizer . It saved a lot of time to tune the individual SQL . But I have no idea whether it's suitable for Oracle8.0.5 version

Reply: RULE vs COST Based opt

    Hi,

The cost based optimizer will always give you better results. This is provided Oracle
has the statistics of the user objects generated continuously. You should always
ANALYZE user objects regularly so that Oracle has the true and the latest statistics
to draw up an execution plan for Cost Based Optimizer.

    Cheers!!
