Hi Venu!

Working on Oracle v8i with OS as Win2000/NT!
CONNECTION_TYPE=DEDICATED_MODE.

Query: As we are having RAM of 512 MB on the server,the total size for DB_BLOCK_BUFFERS = 30k(present) reduced from 59K earlier and remaining space should be occupied by OS for PAGING & SWAPPING.Will this reduction of size of DB_BLOCK_BUFFERS increase performance!What else needs to be done in the INIT.ORA parameters to enhance performance gain!

I have resized SORT_AREA_SIZE=1M and SORT_AREA_RETAINED_SIZE=1M
SHARED_POOL_SIZE = 30MB reduced from 40mb earlier and LARGE_POOL_SIZE=10MB reduced from earlier size 47 MB.

Immediately by doing this setting,my users experienced enhanced performance speed and the reports & forms are running fine as of now!

Are these settings Ok for a 2GB database!Sometimes there are connection problems through Forms & reports,running sql queries and takes long to get connected.Single row deletes takes around 5 minutes!What could have gone wrong and where to check for the lopholes!

Please advise!As I am frequently tuning these INIT.ORA Parameters to gain performance.

Thanks & Regards,

With regards,

Amit.
