    Can 81.7 be installed with oracle, dba group? Or oinstall is a must?

    It does not matter..
    you can install 8.1.7 with oracle and dba group easily.

    pl check the /tmp/orainstall folder permissions as well availabe space on it..
    it should be something like
    drwxrwxrwx 2 peri dba 117 Aug 13 14:29 orainstall

    here instead of oracle im using peri as a oracle user.

    double check all your checkup ist and start runinstaller..
