    Is it possible to have more than one SMON , PMON , LGWR....

    you can have more than one dbwr (process or io slaves)
    lgwr only io slaves
    arch only io slaves

    rest only one

    LGWR, DBWR yes.
    You can have maximum of 15 I/O Slave Processes
    background process for DBWR, LGWR, etc.

    In one oracle Instance you can have only one set of background processes. offcourse you can have multiple slaves as said by Sudip and Pando...
