    Hiii thanks,
    i want to use when clause in query?
    i need to check (x column value) value,
    if it is null i like to increment by 1 else 0 etc

    That's not what WHEN is used for. I suggest you take a look at a basic SQL book.

    hii,i have some other conditions,when is second condition.
    i mean in a particular table i want to display total count as well as one column value will be incremented depending on old value.
    my question is i want to declare a variable in query and i want to increment in when clause.
    how?
