    Hi kids;

    OS=NT
    Oracle= ver 8.1.6.1.0

    Well here is a strange problem that has been going on in one of our development instances for a couple of weeks.

    It started when I tried to run one of my usual scripts that looks at free space. I have since narrowed it down to 2 main problems.
    If I try to run ...
    SELECT COUNT(*) FROM DBA_FREE_SPACE
    the session will just hang, this does not happen in any other instance we have. Also, if I log into OEM everything is ok unless I click on "datafiles" or "tablespace" located under "storage", in either case OEM will hang and I have to kill the session.

    To further complicate this we also have 5 other instances on the same box sharing the same oracle_home and they do not have this problem.

    Anyone have any advice on this one?

    Thanks in advance.

    Looks like you have some problem to access your dictionary catalog on this system. Make sure your systems datafile of this instance is not corrupted by running DBVERIFY utility.
