Hi guys
We are trying to create a table in Oracle, which was already available in Foxpro.
Table Size : 466 bytes
No of Records : 75000 ( in 6 Yrs.)
Current Size : 35 MB
Yearly Increase in Size : 5 MB
Guide me to design an Ideal Plan to Create this table (info. like PCTFREE, EXTENTS, etc.. and whatever information is required.)
Regards
Ramji
I you are on 8i or above consider using LMT with UNIFORM extents.
PCTFREE/PCTUSED depend on how the table data will be updated and deleted.. If you are going to have lot of updates that will increase rowsize, kepp PCTFREE high.
And if the table data is going to bedeleted then at what % you wuld like the block to be returned to freelist for insertion again.

create the the table based on some assumed vales
Let it run for some time..then analyze the table and then recreate the table with alter table move command with new storage parameters
Alloting Extents

no need to calculate this if you are using LMT, waste of time
