I have read from 3 different source that :

"When you run LogMiner, you specify the names of the redo logs that you want to analyze."

My question is: what if the logs that you want to analyze are older than what is in the on-line redo log and sitting (in the archive log dest) in the archive logs? Can I analyze what's in the archived logs?

Yes. You can. You have specify(ADD) the logs you wanted to analyze. See this link

You can analyze based on SCN/Time Range....
