Hi,
I want to knwo the default location of the USER_DUMP_DEST.
i can find out the user_dump_dest setted in the init.ora file or using sqlplus - show parameter.
i am using HP-UNIX 11.0,oracle 8.1.7.3.
since i have been facing some problem while connecting the database - ORA-12545/12547. So i went thru the metalink and found something. metalink doc asked me to check the default user_dump_dest directory for 1 cause. so i want this one. any one can help me.
thanx in advance

hi venkateskg,
and what do you get when you use "show parameter" in SQL Plus?

SQL*Plus: Release 9.0.1.0.1 - Production on Sat Jul 13 16:21:34 2002

SQL> show parameter user_dump_dest
NAME TYPE VALUE
------------------------------------ ----------- ------------------------------
user_dump_dest string /oracle/admin/DMSC/udump
SQL>
The above is my sqlplus out put. this the path i setted in the init.ora file.

so what you want now is the path that was used before you set this value in the user_dump_dest parameter?
-
well venkateskg, as mentioned in
http://otn.oracle.com/docs/products/...218.htm#945526
User_dump_dest 's default value is an operating system dependent, so try to find trace files in a place other than the one set in the init.ora file, and this will be the default value (provided that you set that value once).
Regards.
